Visit Date: July 7-11, 2025

When it comes to theme park food, many people imagine it to be greasy, tasteless, and overpriced. While Disney food certainly falls into the overpriced category, I’ll make the argument that they offer some of the best theme park food that I’ve ever had. With a wide variety of options – from Mexican to Asian to classic American, Disneyland & Disney California Adventure are sure to have something for everyone.

Like Walt Disney World, Disneyland and DCA offer a range of offerings from snacks to quick service to elegant sit down restaurants. We’ll be highlighting our favorites of the different food options over time.

So, in no particular order, here are the Disneyland snacks & sips I’m still thinking about:

RASPBERRY ROSE MACARON

Find it at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland for $8.29

Also pictured: The Banoffee Pie for $7.49 (not currently available)

The Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is located at the end of Main Street on the left, near Casey’s Corner and is in the same spot as Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace. Like Crystal Palace, it is a Victorian themed restaurant, but it differs in its dining style and theming. While Crystal Palace is a Winnie the Pooh themed buffet, Jolly Holiday is a Mary Poppins themed bakery.

The inside has subtle nods to the movie, but your eyes immediately go to the glass displays, full of beautiful sweet treats. The restaurant also has an assortment of savory items, such as soups and sandwiches, but on this visit, we were here just for something sweet.

As a raspberry lover and a macaron connoisseur, this treat was at the top of my must-try list for Disneyland. I was a little nervous it would be overhyped, since it’s very popular on social media. I was ecstatic that it was as delicious as everyone said! The macaron had the perfect chew, the tart raspberry cut through the sweet cookie, and the lightly flavored rose cream complimented everything beautifully. At $8 for a cookie, it’s certainly not cheap, but it’s amazing and big enough to share. Worth every penny for sure. My biggest complaint? That it stained my teeth red!

RED GAMMA GULP

Find it at Pym’s Test Kitchen in DCA for $7.29

Located in the heart of Avenger’s Campus is Pym’s Test Kitchen, a quick service restaurant where the offerings are both giant and mini sized – a result of Ant Man and the Wasp’s research on Pym Particles. The food here ranges from tacos to pasta, each with a fun twist – such as a mega taco salad or a giant fried chicken sandwich served on a tiny bun. We enjoyed lunch here one day, and I would definitely return. The food was fun and delicious, and the theming was well done with plenty of seating.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but Disney (both in California and Florida) is known for their cold brew drinks, so I decided to try at least one on our trip. I decided on the Red Gamma Gulp, a red velvet cold brew with a sweet cream cheese cold foam, because it had good reviews and seemed like it would be sweet enough to counteract the bitter cold brew. And this drink certainly lived up to the hype! It was sweet without being sickening and perfectly balanced the coffee. It was creamy & smooth, and my only regret was not trying it earlier in the trip so I could have more than one!

Unfortunately, it seems like this drink has been taken off the menu in favor of a more seasonal cold brew – the Asgardian Apple Cold Brew, a caramel apple coffee drink. While it’s a bummer to hear that the Red Gamma Gulp isn’t available, I would definitely be open to trying more of Disney’s coffee beverages!

CHICKEN BACON RANCH FLOP-OVER

Find it at Cafe Daisy in Disneyland for $11.49

Cafe Daisy, located in the adorably themed Toontown at the back of Disneyland Park, offers hot dogs & pizza “flop-overs” (kind of like a calzone or a folded slice of pizza), and isn’t normally a place we would stop to eat at. But when I saw the new chicken bacon ranch flop-over, I knew we would have to pay it a visit. I’m a sucker for anything CBR flavored, and I had a feeling that this would be good. The flopover was cheesy with a good amount of chicken and bacon. I could’ve done with more bacon (always), but this was incredibly tasty! We comfortably shared it, so at this price, it’s a great deal.

TATOOINE SUNSET

Find it at Ronto Roasters in Disneyland for $7.79

While this isn’t a Disneyland exclusive (it’s available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios), it was my first time trying it. And I regret not trying it sooner! It’s an elevated take on an Arnold Palmer, with some melon and blueberry flavors mixed in. While I can’t distinguish those two, I can tell that it’s a more complex drink than a classic lemonade and iced tea fusion, and it’s certainly refreshing! We loved it so much we had it twice! And a special shoutout goes to this drink because it uses nugget ice, which is a staple around Disney but just gives this drink the extra oomph.

You can find it at Ronto Roasters on both coasts, which is a snack kiosk themed as an “exotic meat stall”. They offer their famous “Ronto Wraps”, which is a sausage in a pita with a variety of toppings. This is offered in the classic version, as well as vegetarian (Ronto-less), cold cuts, and breakfast. Ronto Roasters is a great spot for a quick snack, and be sure to pick up a Tatooine Sunset while you’re there!

GARLIC CHEESY PRETZEL BREAD

Find it at Maurice’s Treats in Disneyland for $8.29

Also pictured: The Cookie Croissant for $5.49 (not currently available)

Located to the left of the castle, you’ll find an old-world covered wagon, which has been converted into a snack cart. You initially may be inclined to walk past this, assuming that it sells the generic Disney offerings like popcorn, Mickey pretzels, and overpriced bottles of Dasani water. I assure you though – you do not want to make that mistake. As the name would imply, this snack is a pretzel bread bun stuffed with a cheesy garlic spread. The bread is warm and the sauce is flavorful, with some nice cheese pulls. Some people like to add a side of marinara sauce for an extra $1.39, but we enjoyed it as is. This is the perfect snack to either enjoy while people watching or to pick up before you hop in line for a ride.

If you ever get tired of the classic cheesy garlic pretzel bread, there are two variations of it to try out. The breakfast version, also found at Maurice’s Treats for $13.49 is stuffed with scrambled eggs and sausage. And there’s a bratwurst version which can be found at Edelweiss Snacks for $13.79, which we tried but didn’t enjoy quite as much as the original. Sometimes the classics just can’t be beat!

NEOPOLITAN MILKSHAKE

Find it at Flo’s V8 Cafe in DCA for $7.79

Flo’s V8 Cafe is a quick service dining spot located in one of the best themed areas on Disney property, Cars Land. The restaurant is themed after an American diner, and the food consists of burgers, fries, and of course, milkshakes.

The menu advertises classic flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, each optionally topped with “road gravel” (crushed up chocolate cookies). I love a good vanilla milkshake, and I had all intentions of ordering one. But, on the way over, I happened to see a video of a “secret menu hack” of a neapolitan milkshake, layering chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. After seeing the video, I had to have this instead. I asked, and the server happily accommodated. I say this because I sometimes get nervous asking for an “off-menu” item, especially one off of social media.

But with my drink  in hand, I indulged in one of the best milkshakes ever. Each flavor was distinct and the texture was perfectly creamy but not overly thick. The road gravel added some good crunch too. Sam liked it so much he went and ordered his own after trying mine! Overall, I highly recommend paying a visit to Flo’s at least for the milkshakes, if not for a whole meal.

BONUS ITEM:

CHOCOLATE & MOCHI XIAO LONG BAO

Find them at Din Tai Fung in Downtown Disney for $10.50 (5 per order)

While this item isn’t exclusive to Disney property, nor is it located inside of the parks, I had to include it since you can technically get it at Disney without even paying for park admission!

Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese dining chain, has 17 locations in the US, including in Downtown Disney. We first tried it in Seattle, and loved it so much we dined there twice in three days! When we found out that they were building a location in Anaheim, we knew we would have to visit during our Disneyland trip.

While the whole menu is delicious – from dumplings to noodles to fried rice – one of our absolute favorite items is the chocolate xiao long bao. Traditional xiao long bao, known as “soup dumplings” are delicate dumplings filled with a meat filling and hot soup. Din Tai Fung is well known for these, and they have a dessert take on this dish, which is very popular – for good reason!

These are thin wrappers filled with molten chocolate, which just oozes out upon first bite, while the thin mochi (glutinous rice) keeps everything well contained. They’re served hot, and it’s kind of like a chocolate lava cake filling. The chocolate isn’t too sweet, and the wrapper is a similar one to their savory dumplings, so the dish overall is perfectly balanced. Some people like to order a side of sea salt cream foam for an extra $1 and dip their dumplings, but we haven’t tried that yet. Once again, we prefer to stick to the classics.

At around $2 a piece, they’re certainly not cheap, but they’re one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. If you’re paying a visit to Din Tai Fung, do not go without trying these out.

We visited Disneyland months ago, and yet I’m still thinking about these snacks! Disneyland, more so than Disney World, is known for seasonal snacks and is constantly switching up their offerings, so it makes for a foodie’s paradise! Two of Sam’s favorite snacks, the Peach Cobbler Funnel Cake Fries and Pineapple Upside Down Sundae (pictured in first image), were seasonal options, and he still raves about them.  No matter what time of year you go, you’re bound to find food that you can’t stop talking about.  We’re already thinking about when we’ll be going back – and in part so that we can try even more food!

Keep an eye out for our other articles highlighting Disneyland food, like the quick-service places we tried as well as a review of Blue Bayou, one of the hardest reservations to get in the parks!
